About Ben Whishaw

His vocals are as gentle as his temperament. He is the voice of Paddington Bear, timeless, innocently perceptive and adorably funny. Recognised as one of the greatest actors of his generation, Ben has enjoyed global success, spanning blockbuster greats as Q in Bond to challenging independents such as The Lobster and Lilting. His performance in London Spy for which he was nominated Best Leading Actor by BAFTA, was achingly, soul-searchingly beautiful. He won an Emmy, an BAFTA, and a Golden Globe for his beautifully touching portrayal of Norman Scott in A Very English Scandal, and more recently he can be seen alongside our Tilda Swinton in The Personal History of David Copperfield.

Caesar returns in triumph to Rome and the people pour out of their homes to celebrate. Alarmed by the autocrat’s popularity, the educated élite conspire to bring him down. After his assassination, civil war erupts on the streets of the capital. 
 
Directed by Nicolas Hytner, Ben plays Marcus Brutus alongside David Calder in this production of Shakespeare's political thriller.

The brilliant Ben Whishaw stars in a three-part adaptation of John Preston’s novel centring on one of the biggest scandals in British politics. A Very English Scandal centres around British MP and leader of the Liberal party Jeremy Thorpe (Hugh Grant) who was tried and acquitted of plotting to murder his former lover Norman Scott. Scott had been threatening to expose his relationship with Thorpe at a time shortly after homosexuality was decriminalised in Britain.
 
Desperate to conceal his secret in order to keep his political career intact, Thorpe set in motion a plan of deception and lies that ultimately culminated in his arrest for conspiracy to murder.
 
A Very English Scandal will air in May 2018 on BBC One.

Ben Whishaw takes on the lead role in the BBC Two adaption of This is Going To Hurt, playing award-winning international multi-million selling author Adam Kay.

Talking about the project, Ben said:  "It's an honest, hilarious, heart-breaking look at the great institution and the army of unsung heroes who work there under the most stressful conditions."
